Cailin(ka-leen) means girl

September 1, 2010

Yesterday I completed my first Rosetta Stone Irish lesson. The format is so completely different from those high school Portuguese classes I took 12 years ago. I can’t believe that was 12 years. I feel old. There aren’t any translations. At all. Just matching pictures with the audio clips. Still, I definitely learned something!

You may be wondering why I am attmepting to learn Irish. No particular reason, really. It just interests me. No, it’s not the most useful language to know, but oh well. I’ve never been all that interested in the “mainstream” languages, which is how I ended up taking Portuguese instead of Spanish in high school.
