Mary Shea, I’m looking for you!

I’m a member at Ancestry.com and when the mood strikes, I’ll spend a little time trying to track down my ancestors. Not for any particular reason, I’m just curious. I’m trying to develop all branches of the family tree at the same time, because I’m neurotic like that. I can’t stand for one branch to be longer than the other. That said, a couple of people have me stumped. One of them is Mary Shea. Mary Shea was my paternal grandfather’s mother. She was born in Ireland at immigrated to the US in 1902 or 1914, depending on which census you believe. Tracking down a particular Mary Shea who immigrated from Ireland at that time is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It doesn’t help that I can’t find a death record either. Did she divorce my great-grandfather? Did she die young? Did aliens descend upon San Francisco and kidnap her?! The world may never know.
